1. Montezuma Bus Stop & Taxi Stand
Located on the main road just south of the center of town. If you’re not up for the steep walk up to the brewery get a taxi from here.
Just ask for “El Mariposario,” or if you are coming from Tambor or Santa Teresa by taxi “El Mariposario Montezuma”
2. Trailhead to Lower Falls
If you’re walking this is where you turn up the hill and start the 750 meter climb to the brewery. It might not sound like a lot but in the heat it can be challenging. Remember there is cold beer waiting for you at the end!
The Walk From Town
Town Center to Lower Fall Trailhead
From the center of Montezuma, head out along the road that follows the shoreline to the other side of town, where the Rio Montezuma empties into the sea. On the far side of the bridge you will see the main parking and trailhead to the lower falls. Just passed that is a paved road that heads up a very steep hill to the right.
Lower Falls to the Brewery
Our place is 750 meters up the hill on the right hand side. You’ll see our sign for the Butterfly Brewing Company. There is parking available on both sides of the sign. Come on in and say hi even if you just want to find the trail to the upper falls.
The hill leading up to our place is steep. If the road were flat, we would be just a 10 minute walk from the lower falls parking lot. It’s not, so if you’re walking, bring water and give yourself time.
